Jelena Jankovic (Belgrade, 1985) is a photographer with a strong artistic vision. She explores human nature and the psychological aspects of relationships through a full spectrum of photographic genres – from documentary to theatre, fashion and conceptual photography. Her photographs and projects are created through exploring people, situations, sensations, light, colour and imagination. She has exhibited around the world – Moscow, Mexico City, Istanbul, Tokyo London, Kuala Lumpur, Tbilisi, Siena, Zagreb...

She has received several significant international awards for her work

Her photographs have been published: Rolling Stone, National Geographic, Professional Photographer, ELLE, Digital SLR Photographer magazine, KOSMOS, fotoMAGAZINE, LensCulture, Lürzer's Archive, GEO, Vice, F-stop magazine...

In 2018, she published her first monograph book “Kolo: 70 years later” presenting the traditional dances of Serbia.

She has been credited for photography in over 40 theatre productions all over the world.

“For me, photography isn’t just a job, it’s life. Since I’m dyslexic, which I discovered two years ago, photography is the only means of expression and creation behind which I don’t have to hide. This undiagnosed dyslexia caused many problems in my childhood, education, and communication with the world around me. That is why I see photography as something truly intimate and special. If it wasn’t for the photography, I have no idea where I would be now.

I create in several fields:

Documentary photography is my reflection of the world around me.

Dance and theatre photography is about expressing my inner emotion; the power and the fragility of dance is affecting my most profound and intimate feelings. Dance and theatre is very important part of my life.

Fashion is a platform for staging my theatre play; it is a blend of knowledge, imagination and precision.

Conceptual and Experimental photography is the space without borders.
